V. the house that inspired this is from the same saga. There was a house called the Spiral Staircase that pops up multiple times in the Manson Family story. it’s a very mysterious part of the story, and there were exceedingly strange things that happened there. A couple people in the Family have claimed that that is where things took a very dark turn for them. supposedly outright blood sacrifice and devil worship happened there.

This whole series, Straight Haight ’67, is a fantasy version of the dark underbelly of that era, which is something I for whatever reason have been totally captivated by for a couple decades.

Tom O’Neill’s recent work, the well-researched CHAOS: Charles Manson, the FBI, and the Secret History of the Sixties has given new weight to theories that have floated around since the murders went down.

There is far, far more to the Manson case than the “crazed cult leader” myth, just as there is far more to the whole era than meets the eye. I take definite liberties with my tales, but that is where my inspiration for the whole Straight Haight ’67 series is coming from.

Absolutely not trying to spam you, but this installment of Straight Haight features an encounter with a character inspired by Manson himself, one who will play a prominent role in the saga:
