The hardest thing is actually covering the book without going into everything else I learned. Crisman was involved in all kinds of weird shit. This doens’t mean I know his angle, or what his game was here, but Crisman was most definitely not a naive writer who just happened into this situation.
He pops up way too many times in history, this shadowy figure always on the periphery…I recently got commissioned by a mag to write a story on him. This is cool and I’m grateful.
I intend, however, to pitch a whole book on his life.
