Thanks for exposing this. I remember reading a statistic some time back about how common medical malpractice actually is, and it was slightly freaky. Even more freaky, to me, is how it’s kept in the dark.
I think part of the problem is that medical procedures are so far out of the range of normal human experience that people just defer to their own bafflement. It’s hard to see it through the eyes of practitioners, for whom there is no mystique or mystery, and therefore nothing to keep it out of the range of common everyday grifting and trickery.
