It’s not set there, no, but in a fictional place very much like where I grew up. When I was a kid, there were still many small farmers in my hometown. I grew up working on farms, in fact. Now, though, the small farms have all died. My town was a very wealthy area back during the coal mining era, but since then, it’s part of the Rust Belt and things can be tough there. Recently things are getting better there, but that’s after decades of population and economic decline. Hopefully the rebound continues!

But yes, much as I will always consider myself a country boy at heart, I left it for a reason. There just weren’t many opportunities there. Luckily I still go back once a year to visit. My family and friends are all still there.
