It was actually inspired by the “true” story about the origin of a great American folk song. I really like music history (and do some music journalism) and like digging through old history. There was for a time the claim floating around that this fellow received inspiration for his song from a UFO. I find that fascinating, because the song itself is about how ambition will never get you anywhere, and all that really matters is having a satisfied mind, meaning that you’re at peace with yourself and your world.
I found that to be such an odd combination of simple earthly wisdom and extraterrestrial inspiration.
