come to me and lift me up
from the detritus of my years,
wash me clean, take all
the broken pieces of
my soul and make me whole
with glue and tape,
make me yours, forge
…

Come to me

I pray for this often, though I’m not a religious person and have no idea what I’m praying to…I don’t think that’s how you meant it but that’s how I read it. A yearning for salvation in a world without a savior…or maybe there’s a savior…my point’s not to say one way or the other but just that’s the emotion this poem evokes for me.
