I never thought about this before…but I think you’re right. In the past, we might have a fear about something but we’d keep it inside because speaking out about such things in person is not easy or natural for most of us.

On social media, though, people just reflexively blurt out their thoughts…which then “commits” them psychologically to that position. Wow, I really never considered how severely that may exacerbate these problems. People are committing themselves to crazy ideas so fast that they never have time to reflect on them. Trapped by their own Facebook rants!

Wow…that is actually a profound insight.
