I got rid of my smart phone almost two years ago. I’d reached my limit when I found myself literally incapable of reading more than a page or two in a book before compulsively checking my phone.

Got rid of Facebook. Then Twitter.

I’m not one of these annoying advocates that everyone else should do this. It’s just my personal account of my personal story…but I can say with 100 percent certainty that I’ve seen nothing but positive effects from giving this crap up.

I now sit down and read for a couple hours at a time, unbroken. My mind feels clearer. My focus is better. I’ve seen nothing but positives from this.

I may try having a smart phone again after I ditch all social media outlets, but I’ll never have a smart phone and social media again at the same time. Way, way too much of a brain-suck, and all for trivial, shallow interaction with no real substance or benefit.
